Some people have a way of making you want to get up and create. This portrait was inspired by a self-portrait of a dear friend and fellow Julia Kay Portrait Party (JKPP) artist whose enthusiasm for making art is absolutely infectious.
Her expressive face, bright eyes, and unmistakable energy seem to radiate optimism and possibility. Whenever I look at her, I’m reminded that creativity isn’t something to wait for. It’s something to dive into with both hands.
As I translated her painted image into mosaic, I found myself smiling throughout the process. The finished portrait captures the spark that first drew me in: a sense of joy, momentum, and the simple pleasure of making things.
A little nudge to wake up, smell the coffee, and get to work on whatever is calling your name.
